The A30 group was set up earlier this year, originally as a response to the government's threat to U-turn on roadbuilding.

Determined to stop a re-run of the 90's anti-road battles (by smashing the policy before it was implemented) we devised a big reunion rally of past road protesters, hoping it would head the bulldozers off at the pass...

However, the sudden arrival of the new Terrorism Bill has radically altered our focus. This Bill is explicitly aimed at preventing all public dissent against any government policy. The reference to serious violence in the Bills' definition of Terrorism is so loose as to effectively outlaw any group that takes to the streets (or fields). With the state's ability to precipitate a vicious riot under any circumstances, even non-violent protesters will get caught in the net.

The A30 group pledges to fight on in spite of the terrorism Bill. We urge all friends to do the same. Unite your communities against this attack. Defend diveristy and dissent. Smash fascism in all its forms. The next page contains a pledge that highlights our original aim: To continue the fight against roadbuilding. If you want to support our aim, sign a name and press 'I pledge!'.
