Lancaster's Empty Shops - September 2002
When you walk round a town your eyes are attracted towards the bright, shiny
new things. You don't see the emptiness or the desolation. You walk right
past an empty shop without noticing. Does Lancaster need new shopping
developments when so many current opportunities are untaken? Click on a red
spot to find out what's not there anymore.
These are not even a complete survey - as I walked across town the next day I spotted two more shops right next to the centre of town that I had missed - the old car insurance shop opposite Spooners and the old Gadgetzone shop in the alley next to Wilkinsons. In time doubtless some of these places will find loving owners but more may fall empty.
