These wild ancestors of ours didn't build any pyramids - they lived lightly and left no mess behind.

It's only very recently in evolutionary terms, 10,000 years or so, since humans started doing civilisation, but within that short time we've done our best to forget our uncivilised ancestors.

We really do think history began 10,000 years ago and that we've been "progressing" ever since. We have forgotton how full and rich and complex life was for our wild ancestors.

Our task then is to remember our ancestors, remember how they lived...

If you go to the woods and be silent,
your ancestors will talk to you
and tell you what it was like.
